Fiber-to-the-home deployment in the United States is booming. Last year, the number of American households with fiber broadband access increased by 4.4 million. And the increase for 2018 is likely to be even higher. About 35 million households, that’s roughly 28 percent of all U.S. households, now have fiber access.
So, there is still 72 percent to go.
This is a job we have to do together. “Putting all pieces together requires firms that finance, plan, design, engineer, construct and install fiber optic networks, as well as those that make equipment for digging, pushing, pulling and attaching fiber”, explains the magazine’s editor-in-chief Masha Zager. We’re proud to be engineers specialized in the crucial steps of planning, designing and engineering FTTx networks.
So why did Comsof Fiber make the list? Ms. Zager gives us some insight: “Automated fiber design solutions are gaining traction. Two reasons come to mind. First, there are only so many experienced engineers, and the pace of fiber deployment has reached record levels. Automated solutions can help them keep up with demand. Second, today’s automated solutions have been shown to reduce overall network costs.”
So there is still a lot of work to be done. We are ready to do our part in making America a frontrunner in the deployment of smart fiber networks.
